Project Description
During the centuries St. Giorgio Church was modified again and again because of style changes due to different historical ages.
The main change was in the XIV century when the complex to which the church belongs to, from a castle became a convent of Celestini .
As a matter of fact the previous chapel annexed to the castle was enlarged becoming St. Giorgio Church. With this last important transformation, the church assumed those baroque looking features which has been preserved to the present time.
Restructuring concerned the realization of reinforced concrete foundations under the existing masonry alternating concrete castings; masonry and arches consolidation through concrete injections as well as riveting; consolidations of crypt barrel vaults realizing riveting connected above to a new reinforced concrete slab; the external walls connection through a reinforced concrete curb.
New trusses made of glulam were inserted as well, putting above them a wooden plank and clay tile roofing. During picks fresco paintings and baroque frame were discovered and preserved.
